CRI/TLI’s trainings in conflict resolution with the Foreign Ministry, the 'Sudanese Political Parties Peace Culture Network', and the University have been well received, and do much to enhance my own work with promoting “peace culture” in Sudan.

Since 1987 CRI/TLI staff and Lincoln in particular were a big asset to us in introducing new models of conflict resolution to the Soviet Union and Russia in particular, and in assisting us in developing our own training curricula in negotiation and mediation as well as our professional certification program.

… when we completed the CRI/TLI skills training at Afghanistan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs participants said it was the best training that they have had — ever!

With CRI/TLI I acquired extensive practical experience related to labor management relations, public policy, community development and environmental affairs as well as considerable involvement in over nine nations. I also learned that despite having a vast competent skills set we mediators must always remember that the disputing parties are the primary resource in the room — so use them!

I took CRI/TLI’s training with Lincoln a long time ago, and it has stuck with me throughout my years working in Indian Country, with countless Spanish communities, environmental NGOs and governmental entities; truly the training and working relationship with CRI in Russia, Central American nations, and Cuba have served as invaluable assets.

The education and training I have received through CRI/TLI course work have not only greatly enhanced my skills for managing conflict, but have also prepared me to teach these conflict resolution skills to colleagues, graduate students and organizations — and to work with CRI/TLI in Russia and elsewhere.

The results of TLI/CRI's training in collaborative planning and cooperative problem solving remain forever applicable in business and any profession as well as relevant to life's daily challenges. It also has prepared me to be part of the TLI/CRI mission here at home and in Russia, Cuba, Poland, Sudan and Afghanistan in the capacities as impartial coach, trainer, and program developer.

… In the performance of our jobs as mediators and trainers it is not uncommon to meet other professionals who remark that they were “trained by Bill Lincoln” – it’s like a brand. … [TLI] provided me my most substantive training in negotiation and mediation.

We completed another successful course earlier this month in the Naval Postgraduate School’s Center for Executive Education; and the evaluations indicate [TLI’s] presentation was the highlight of the entire ten days and the more than twenty speakers.

The content [TLI] provides has proven to be unquestionably applicable — so say the participants again and again. Furthermore, [TLI’s] style of teaching makes the interactive learning process not only effective, but exceedingly enjoyable as well.

Participant evaluations for the “Negotiation and Collaboration” skills-building portion of [our] series remain consistently positive again this year. Without a doubt, this valuable component in the CCLS curriculum has played an integral part in the success of the program for over 10 years. Comments like “thorough”, “effective”, “attentive/responsive” and “practical approaches for personal and professional use” are typical comments.

A common comment on the [TLI] course evaluations is ‘I now have real tools to take back to work and use right now.’

Typically, students describe their learning experience with [TLI] as ‘powerful, transformative, and awesome.’ His courses are highly recommended by his students, many of whom are among California’s foremost neutrals [dispute resolution specialists].

[Negotiations] in Skykomish stalled at a critical juncture where both parties were adamant and insistent that their issues were just. [TLI’s] approach brought the parties together neutrally. Because of [TLI’s] preparation and investment, [TLI was] able to successfully resolve their differences. If the mediation had failed, millions of dollars of planning and effort would have been lost; the new waste water treatment system could not be built on schedule or budget; and the remediation and restoration work itself could have been delayed indefinitely.

[TLI’s] masterful mediation of the agriculture burning dispute brought out numerous, creative options that are being implemented today. As a result, last year in the Air Quality Program we received calls from thankful parents of asthmatic children reporting that our metering program was allowing their children to breathe freely for an entire burn season for the first time in their children’s lives. As Air Quality Program Manager, I likewise received calls from wheat growers grateful that they are still able to use burning as a tool for managing their crops.

The proof of TLI’s effectiveness was the final resolution of issues in a settlement agreement that was not imposed on the parties but created by the parties, and an agreement that provides for communications mechanisms to insure implementation. This is an agreement on which the parties can rely for the life of the agreement.

I highly recommend [TLI] for projects and situations that have complex issues and conflicting agendas. You will find them to be skilled and effective in project management and conflict resolution.

My internship with CRI/TLI which occurred primarily in Costa Rica and Mexico was by far one of the most intense and interesting learning experiences of my life. CRI/TLI gave me opportunities that few institutions provide interns to travel, work with high level officials, and participate actively with my own ideas, creativity, and commitment. My three years with CRI/TLI immersed me into the world of international institutions, politics, and development as well as fully prepared me for my graduate work and post-graduate career advancement at a multilateral development institution such as the World Bank where I am now employed.
